About the work
Furio Torracchi’s Mixed Media and associated digital/video explorations articulate a fluid negotiation between analogue and digital visual systems, positioning these works as extensions of his broader inquiry into image, memory, and perception. Across this field of practice, Torracchi moves beyond the traditional boundaries of painting and photography to embrace a hybrid mode in which photography, digital manipulation, graphic composition, and temporal media intersect.
At the heart of this line of work is the idea that images do not merely represent reality, but actively construct it. Digital projects—which include experiments with moving images, GIFs, and video formats—function as dynamic visual proposals that unfold over time, encouraging viewers to interact with light, color, and moving structure rather than static form alone. This temporal dimension expands the visual language, inviting a reflective encounter with the ways in which memory, rhythm, and narrative can be shaped through sequence and transformation.
In multimedia works, the layering of materials and digital interventions do not merely blend media: they bring the act of creation to the fore as an element of meaning. By juxtaposing digital surfaces with a tactile or sculptural presence and incorporating experimental video fragments, these works highlight the tension between surface and depth, between stillness and movement. They suggest that images are not fixed artifacts, but sites of perceptual negotiation, where meaning emerges through the viewer's engagement with form, time, and transformation.
